# Managing Your Language Settings

## Default Language

Your account's *default Language* is the language in which your flows appear within the flow editor. Note that the *Default Language* setting does not dictate the language in which your contacts receive messages. Rather, a contact's [preferred language setting](https://help.textit.com/en/article/setting-your-contacts-language-preferences-ef6uob/) dictates the language in which (s)he receives messages.

## Additional Languages

Adding *Additional Languages* to your account is the first step in translating your flows. You may add any language that has been assigned an [ISO 639-3](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_639-3) code from your settings page:

Click on it and add *Additional Languages* to your account, they will be represented within the flow editor in the bar at the top left.

## Default Flow Language

The default language will be indicated with 'original' in the dropdown in the flow editor.

Note that the default language and both be changed for the entire account in your workspace settings or can be changed when creating a new individual flow using the "Language" drop-down menu on the "New Flow" dialogue:

If the *Default Language* of a flow is different from the *Default Language* of your account as a result of being changed during flow creation, the language will appear as 'original' in the language dropdown menu:
