# Searching for Contacts Currently in Flows

You've always been able to search for contacts with a query based on the [contact's field.](/en/article/searching-for-contacts-e3pk8t/) Now, you can also search for contacts currently in a particular flow, or those not in any flow, by using the same query method.

**Contacts currently in a flow**

Once you know the flow, you can search for active contacts:

1. Go to your Contacts tab.

2. Click on the search icon. In the search bar, type the query: `flow = "the name of the flow"`

In my example below, I want to see contacts active in the flow "test":

**Contacts not currently in a flow**

You can search for contacts that are **not** currently in any flow using the query as well.

1. Go to the Contacts tab. Click on the search icon.

2. Search for `flow = ""`
